Something old: Pepper Spray!

Dug this one out of the archives. A finished design commissioned by a pepper spray company for a t-shirt design advertising their product. I never heard what became of this design or if it was ever produced.

Preliminary sketches used to gauge what sort of style the client might want:

BARREL-CHUCKER shaded inks!

Completed the second phase of my design inking process, which involves drawing an overlay design incorporating all the hard shading and highlights that I don't want to look like they were done in Photoshop. I print out a copy of the main inks in blueline on bristol board, and work out the shadow and highlight areas, inking them in with brush and pen.

I then scan in the shadow/highlight inks and overlay them onto the regular inks to achieve this final inked image, which can then be colored with relative ease once I work out a color scheme.

BARREL-CHUCKER inks (now with 50% more FIRE!

I realized after I finished inking this thing that I meant to have the barrel that Donkey Kong is holding be engulfed in flames. I'm an idiot. Nothing a little fine-tuning can't fix.
Onward.

BARREL-CHUCKER inks

Had to postpone my continued work on this piece for a while due to some more pressing jobs and commissions, but I'm making progress once again, and I rather like how it's turning out. I'm trying to incorporate more heavy ink lines in my designs to prevent having to do too much noodling around with large areas of color in the final pass.

The subject of this piece is, of course, one of my favorite video games and video game characters of all time, DONKEY KONG. Here, the beast can be seen in his natural habitat, hurling barrels at his least favorite mustachioed Italian plumber.
Colors coming soon.

ZOMBIE LOVE!

Hey, it's nearly Valentine's Day, which means we're all supposed to celebrate by going out and buying expensive (or expensive-looking) cards, chocolates, stuffed animals, floral arrangements, jewelry and ridiculous lingerie for our significant others/ objects of our lusts/ stalking victims, lest they become offended at our lack of gift-bearing and come to the only obvious conclusion: that we must not really love them after all. Such is the nature of the holiday invented by the greeting card company/ candy manufacturers/ plush beast purveyors.

Final color version chosen

Anywho, I've got a much better method in which one of a particularly geeky or slightly disturbing persuasion can express one's love for another: J!NX's new shirt design, ZOMBIE LOVE (designed by yours truly)! Zombie courtship done the old fashioned way -- two teenage zombies sharing a brainshake at the local malt shop. They're up for sale at this very moment (or in the incredibly near future from J!NX in a variety of sizes for both males and feminales. Celebrate love and death at the same time and give your grandmother yet another reason to cast odd and suspicious glances at you from across the room as she crosses herself.
Yep!

Thanks, TeeZine! I'm very flattered and incredibly honored. I plan on putting out some even more impressive work in 2011.

NOT KOOL! on sale at midnight on TEEFURY!

One of my favorite t-shirt sites, TEEFURY is featuring and selling another one of my shirt designs starting tonight at midnight for one day only! NOT KOOL! is sort of the... bastard cousin, if you will, of my GLASS BAST'RD Kool-Aid Man parody shirt design. They needed a bit of censoring to make it appropriate to sell on the site, so I, needing to pay my bills, eat and buy Christmas presents for my loved ones, agreed to make the changes and submit the censored art. Gone is the middle finger flying and naughty text, and a new spiffy color scheme has been created to go with the new black background. The result is a bold and bossy design that lets everyone know just how rude and nasty a giant pitcher of sugary beverage can be when it comes to destroying children's houses just to quench their thirst.

Save what little Christmas money you may have left and buy a bunch of NOT KOOL! shirts tomorrow on TEEFURY!

You can also give the design some love over at EMPTEES, if you like!

VOTE FOR POP-ZOMBIE!

POP-ZOMBIE is up for voting at both DESIGN BY HUMANS and EMPTEES, so help one of your favorite artists out and head over to both sites, register and cast your votes! Please enable my uncontrollable habit of creating goofy pop-art! Thanks!
